Southwell Community Archaeology Group

Southwell Archaeology was formed in 2008 and is a Registered Charity. We play a prominent practical role in exploring the very special archaeological nature of Southwell in the context of the wider landscape of Nottinghamshire. A copy of our consitution can be downloaded here. We are engaged in practical community archaeology activities including excavation, field survey and standing-buildings recording. We work in partnership with many organizations including the University of Nottingham, the University of Leicester, Nottingham Trent University, Historic England, Trent and Peak Archaeology, as well as Southwell Town Council, the Southwell Civic Society and the Southwell Heritage Trust. For details on how to get involved please visit the Project pages on this site. Membership is open to all, irrespective of background or experience. The only requirement is an interest in the past!
